Abstrak
Penelitian ini hendak mengungkap konsep harapan mesianik (messianic hope) yang terdapat di dalam kitab Ester. Pendekatan yang dilakukan untuk menjelaskannya adalah pencarian makna teologis (theological meaning), pemakaian hermeneutik akrostik (acrostics hermeneutic) dan pemakaian konten narasi (narrative content). Hasil dari pendekatan ketiganya memperlihatkan bahwa kitab Ester bukan sekedar sebuah roman sejarah melainkan cara kerja Tuhan di dalam kehidupan manusia untuk menyelamatkan, dan campur tangan-Nya di dalam membentuk sejarah umat-Nya. Kitab ini sangat kuat menggemakan harapan mesianik melalui penyelamatan dan pemeliharaan bangsa Yahudi di dalam wilayah kekaisaran Persia dan Media. Plotnya sama dengan rencana besar Allah mengirim Yesus ke dalam dunia untuk menyelamatkan orang dari hukuman kekal dosa.
