Kusta dalam Lensa Teologi dan Medis: Pemahaman Interdisipliner dari Imamat 13

Abstrak
Literatur medis modern mengungkap bahwa kusta adalah penyakit yang dapat diobati dan tidak mudah menular. Sebaliknya, literatur teologis, terutama dari teks-teks Alkitab, sering memandang kusta sebagai simbol dosa dan ketidakmurnian, yang memperkuat stigma sosial terhadap penderita. Penelitian ini menggabungkan perspektif teologis dan medis untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif tentang kusta, dengan fokus pada Imamat 13. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan studi kepustakaan, penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai sumber pustaka. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pandangan teologis kuno tentang kusta sebagai hukuman ilahi telah memperkuat stigma sosial yang berkelanjutan. Sementara itu, perspektif medis modern menawarkan penjelasan ilmiah yang menekankan bahwa kusta adalah kondisi medis yang dapat diobati, membantu mengurangi stigma tersebut. Penelitian ini menyarankan langkah-langkah konkret untuk mengurangi stigma, seperti edukasi masyarakat, integrasi sosial penderita kusta, pelatihan empati bagi tenaga kesehatan, dan dukungan psikososial. Penelitian ini tidak hanya meningkatkan pemahaman tentang kusta dari sudut pandang historis dan teologis, tetapi juga memberikan cara praktis untuk mengatasi stigma sosial dan mendukung reintegrasi penderita kusta ke dalam masyarakat.
